Chairman’s Welcome

Welcome to the seventh Annual Conference hosted by the Oklahoma Global Education Consortium (OGEC) and Tulsa Community College.  A full program of thought provoking workshops and general sessions along with meals and entertainment has been planned for you by the conference chairs:  Dr. Laura Walker and Ms. Barbie Slagle with the support of the Oklahoma Global Education Consortium Steering Committee and the  various Tulsa Community College committees.

 An added dimension to the conference this year is the addition of a workshop on “Multimedia Educational resource for Learning and Online Teaching” (MERLOT).  Dr. Phil Moss, Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs of the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education, has organized this workshop with assistance from his MERLOT team. 

Seven years ago Oklahoma community and technical colleges decided to form the Oklahoma Global Education Consortium after having teams from each of the institutions attend a Stanley Foundation supported conference hosted by Tulsa Community College.

It is amazing how far each of our community and technical colleges have progressed since then.  I encourage you and your institution to continue, even increase, your involvement in helping our students gain a better understanding of their role from a global perspective on this “small planet earth.”
